Mini Heroes – First Aid for Key Stage 2 (Years 3-6, Ages 7-11)

A fun and interactive first aid programme designed for Key Stage 2 children, developing confidence to respond to emergencies and introducing a wide range of practical first aid skills.

Using story-led learning, role play, video and Mini Heroes characters, children learn how to recognise common first aid situations, call for help and take simple, appropriate action.

What will children learn?

Children follow Maya and the Mini Heroes through story-based first aid sessions, building  practical skills and confidence through discussion, demonstrations, video and role play.

The programme can cover:

Sessions 1 - 11 are suitable for children throughout Key Stage 2 and can be delivered in the way that best suits your school. For example, sessions can be spread across years 3-6 or brought together as part of a dedicated first aid day.

Sessions 12 and 13 are more appropriate for upper Key Stage 2 pupils due to the physical strength required for choking first aid and Basic Life Support, as well as the more serious nature of the emergencies discussed.

The Programme  includes:

Designed for Key Stage 2 learners:

The programme has been created specifically for children aged 7-11 using:

  • age-appropriate language

  • visual and story-led learning

  • practical demonstrations

  • retrieval questions and disscusion 

  • repetition and role play

  • hands-on activities

Children stay actively involved throughout the session while building confidence, communication skills and practical first aid awareness.

Session Details:

  • Full Programme: 13 sessions

  • Session Length: Approximately 30 - 60 minutes depending on the session

  • Flexible Delivery: Individual sessions, sessions spread across year groups, or a dedicated first aid day
