One Day Health and Safety Executive Compliant First Aid Course

Emergency First Aid in Schools is a practical, confidence-building one-day course designed specifically for school and childcare settings. It equips staff with the essential skills needed to respond calmly and effectively to common medical emergencies involving children.

 

The course focuses on real-life scenarios that staff may encounter in schools and early years environments, including asthma, anaphylaxis, choking and unconsciousness. Training is delivered in a supportive, hands-on format, with plenty of time for discussion and practice.

 

This course helps schools meet their first aid responsibilities and ensures staff feel confident to act quickly in an emergency.

What's Covered

  • Assessing an emergency situation safely

  • Recognising an unresponsive casualty

  • Child, baby & adult CPR

  • Managing choking in adults, children and babies

  • Use of an automated external defibrillator (AED)

  • Asthma emergencies

  • Anaphylaxis & adrenaline auto-injectors (including EpiPens)

  • Unconsciousness & recovery position

  • Bleeding & burns

  • Seizures & fitting

  • First aider roles and responsibilities
